Job Title: Accounting Clerk – Government Services

Location: Tokyo, Japan

Reports To: Financial Controller, Government Services (Functionally), Finance Manager (Administratively)

Business Unit Overview

The Government Services Business Line (GSBL) works with various governmental agencies, including the US Department of Defense, NATO, and the United Nations, providing medical and healthcare solutions.

Job Purpose

To provide day-to-day operational and administrative finance support for the Government Services programs, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Finance and Billing teams to manage financial requirements and provider payments.
• Coordinate and review accounting and financial reporting for the Japan GSBL sub-location.
• Initiate timely payments and ensure accurate booking.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations.
• Resolve queries and billing concerns from providers promptly.
• Identify process trends and escalate gaps.
• Assist with projects and ad-hoc tasks as needed.
• Attend training, coaching, and meetings as required.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Fluent in Japanese and English.
• Solid knowledge of Accounting Standards.
• Ability to multi-task, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate accountability.
• Experience with accounting and billing responsibilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word; experience with Oracle or similar ERP is a plus.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• General knowledge of world geography.

Required Experience

Required Qualifications

• Accounting degree preferred 1-3 years of experience in a similar position.

Required Languages

• Fluent in written and spoken Japanese and English.
• Fluency in other languages is an advantage.

Job Conditions

• Normal business hours, are 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Overtime possible.
• Responsibilities may be amended as per business and operational requirements.
