Job Description
Vice President Head of Business Unit
Position Purpose
- Develop and implement a business strategy for the assigned Business Unit with both short term and long-term business objectives
- Oversee and lead all marketing and sales plans to achieve the business' objectives within policies and guidelines as well as business unit budget
- Deliver the agreed forecast budget and business plan – top and bottom-line metrics – full P&L responsibility for the business unit
- Inspire and lead the commercial team to deliver outcomes, and maximize their potential
Key Responsibility Areas
- Develop and implement a strategy for the business unit to ensure achievement of commercial objectives, in line with the overall Janssen Japan strategy
- Maximize business unit performance and productivity, from insight generation to strategy development
- Identify future growth opportunities and build organizational capability
- Allocate resources appropriately to achieve growth goals through business and process excellence
- Provide leadership and direction to the team, driving a shared vision for the business unit
- Develops, coaches, and engages talent – and builds strong succession in their teams for future leaders
- Drive operational effectiveness and efficiency, encouraging an environment of continuous improvement
- Maintain effective external networks and relationships to stay informed on changing patient and customer needs, competitor information, and market developments to ensure the business remains competitive and new opportunities are identified
- Actively drive collaboration across Janssen, leveraging new capabilities for the business unit
- Develop and implement short and long-range sales and marketing plans
- Drive a talent focus within the business unit, attracting, developing, and retaining talent
- Lead JPKK wide initiatives as an active member of the Japan Management Committee

Travel on the job: both domestic and international travel is required
Desired Skills and Experience
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Preferred minimum education: University/Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent, MBA or Masters preferred
- Preferred area of study: Business Management and Healthcare
- Preferred related industry experience: Pharmaceuticals, Strategic Consulting firms
- 12-15+ years related commercial experience
- In-depth knowledge of Japan healthcare environment & systems or ability
