Emilio Gonzalo Vera

My professional career is established in DENSO since 2011, in the R&D Air Conditioning division.
Our team is was and still in charge for the Heat Pump development for EV and its application for the European customers. Starting from a customer approach to understand their needs to then passing through thermal simulation, bench tests, vehicle tests, road tests missions, thermal management control logic, HVAC integration, battery cooling, refrigerant cycle efficiency improvement and finally supporting our customer during the vehicle life for a continuous improvement of the thermal performance and electrical consumption reduction.
As engineer part of this team, always challenging the dynamic reality of the EV, HEV and PHEV and thanks to the collaboration with our worldwide R&D centers, I am proud of our final products result like the heat pump systems for the Renault Zoe and Renault Kangoo

I spent 3 years is Japan learning the most meticulous and strict methods for product development and engineering application. I was submerged in and organization with around 10 thousand engineers extremely focused in their targets. I had the immense opportunity of exchange technical knowledge and culture.
I worked in the research and development of the most innovative air conditioning and thermal management system for EV, HEV and PHEV vehicles. Benchmarking, thermal simulation, bench and vehicle tests were part of my daily activities.
The analysis of current patents and creation of new ideas for future products was a big challenge since in that culture it is considered the main goal of an engineer, to design a new product or service that can produce benefit for the company.
I have contributed in the coordination of international projects, merging different needs of customer in different parts of the world.
As a supplier, I experienced the severe requirements and targets of Japanese carmakers like Nissan and Toyota, with whom I was glad to collaborate.

After my graduation at the Polytechnic University of Turin, the CRF gave me the first opportunity of work in Europe, in their HQ offices at Orbassano (Italy). Initially as an intern and then becoming a CRF employee I was part of the R&D Thermal Systems team.

I mainly worked doing research in innovative thermal systems for automotive applications devoted to reduce vehicle fuel consumption. I built a mathematical model of an ejector to predict its behaviour inside a refrigerant cycle aimed to improve the energy efficiency.
I have contributed preparing technical documentation for European projects like TIFFE (Thermal System Integration For Fuel Economy)

Challenging everyday the hard work of the QUALITY ASSURANCE for the parts used during vehicles assembly in factory, it has been my first and great professional experience. As Quality Technician I faced many technical issues of the real world where to apply the knowledge obtained at University for the first time. In the other hand, to maintain the production line continuously working at high quality levels, I have learned also from long-experienced workers different skills that cannot be acquired by just studying a book.

My main activities were:
-Quality Monitoring through PPM levels for supplier Quality performance.
-Analysis of quality problems in the assembly line. PROBLEM SOLVING.
-Incoming Inspection of the parts.
